About Us
On May 1, 1981 Bob & Sue Clower, after having been married only 4 months, bought Ocean Side, an existing business, from the Lynch family. Bob was unhappy in his previous job and had worked nights for the Lynch’s summer of 1980. Thinking that they might want to sell the business, Bob told them that we were interested. We bought the business and for 2 years Bob did both jobs, while Sue, a teacher, worked summers at Ocean Side, and taught school the rest of the year. Bob’s children, Rob and Candy, worked in the business and it grew and grew. Popular items were added to the menu and summer lines went out the door and around the corner.
In spring of 2004 the store next door became available and it was time to expand. Bob and Sue knocked down the cinder block wall and finished off the new side with bathrooms, a bar, and much more seating. The liquor license, for beer and wine only, was the next addition. Then they started accepting credit and debit cards – no longer a “cash only” business. That spring, Sue retired from school to give her full attention to Ocean Side.
Stop in to help us celebrate our 30th season in 2010. We hope to see you there.
